Soft Sculpture
I have recently started making soft sculptures. It is very refreshing to work in a new medium. It helps me to get a new perspective on my work. It is less possible to fall into some of the stylistic habits I have assumed over the years.
I had to carry these pieces to work to take some pictures, and it was very easy to tuck them into my bike bag. I started to think about how stuffed objects (mainly animals) function for the owner as comforting stand-ins for the real thing. So in a way these are not real art pieces, they are stand-ins for everyday objects, reimagined.
